Tea Cosy |

"Not so Cosy" was the title of an exhibition of "Tea Cosies in any medium" on display at the Old Goolwa Police Station Art Gallery for the Adelaide Festival of Arts, in March 2000. The emphasis was on humour and innovation, and, no, they didn't have to be functional! The "Tea Cosies" brought delight to many people and proved so popular that the exhibition was taken on tour throughout rural South Australia, from Kangaroo Island ("Overseas!") to Coober Pedy. They are still out there somewhere! Among materials chosen by the artists were chrocheted steel wool, knitted bread bags, barbed wire, ceramics, paper maiche and even bullet casings! Our offering was made from galvanised steel sheet and glass, featuring the tactile appeal of marbles and bottle bottoms. A light box provided illumination to emphasise the true beauty of the glass. |
