The Aldgate Fire Service

Unlike other fire stations in our Council District, the Aldgate station is not owned by the council but by the residents of Aldgate. The Council therefore does not provide funds for the maintenance of the Aldgate Station, that being the responsibility of the members of the brigade through community appeals and fund raising.

The Brigade is classed by the Country Fire Service Board under the Standards of Fire Cover as an "Urban Brigade" as the Aldgate Brigade's area of operation is predominantly a complex structural and special service threat, together with an associated rural fire threat. The Aldgate Brigade attends on average 80 calls a year, many of which are house fires and urban related incidents. The Aldgate Brigade is also a members of the Volunteer Fire Brigades Association and the Frequent Responders Advisory Group.

Under the Standards of Fire Cover the brigade at present is required to have only one Urban appliance, however at present the brigade has two appliances in station.

1. A large standard CFS ‘Urban Special’ Firefighting Appliance.

2. A ‘Fire & Rescue’ Appliance.
